Welcome to the site of Chambres d’Hôtes á la Chandelle.
Chandelier is situated on the west border of the Morvan, one of the most beautiful national parks of France with its forests, flowing hills, rivers and lakes. You will find old castles, sleepy villages and farmsteads. It is a lovely area for hiking or cycling.
In the area there are beautiful towns to visit, where often little markets or brocantes are held. Of course the Burgundy is also known for its wines, so there is something for everyone. Lazy days can be spent relaxing in the garden behind the house.
Please keep in mind that this is a very rural area, which means it is peaceful and quiet, but it also means that shops and restaurants are not very close by and take a minimum of 10 – 15 minutes by car to get to.
We rent out 3 rooms, suitable for 2 or 4 people, each with their own bathroom.
Pets are welcome upon agreement.
A varied continental breakfast is included in the room price.
We are open from the 1st of April until the 31st of October.
Let’s meet
We are Désirée van Schaick and Mick Werb. Together we embarked on the adventure of moving to France with dog Dante and cats Luna and Gino. We wanted to pursue our dream: to have a Bed and Breakfast in a beautiful area in the French countryside.
Désirée is Dutch, studied criminal law and wanted a change after 25 years of working at the prosecution’s office. Mick is British, has been retired for a while and worked in IT before. He shared her dream.
We both love nature and animals, cozy get togethers, cooking and eating and a glass of wine from time to time. Mick is hands-on, Désirée creative, and together we can do anything.
The most important thing for us is for guests to feel that they can be themselves and feel at home. We will do everything we can to make that happen.
The house.
La Chandelle is a big mansion that is almost 200 years old. It has been renovated with respect for its authenticity. The house has natural stone walls, oak beams and floors with antique tiles. Along the rear of the house there is a covered verandah.
The beautifully designed garden has a terrace and lots of little corners to enjoy the peace and quiet, with a beautiful view over the forested hills.
